ADF PLANS A NEW PUBLIC LIBRARY |
|
During ADF’s third annual fundraising dinner held on October 13, 2007 at the Adria Hotel in New York, the president of the foundation, Jean Lenz Michel reiterated ADF’s goal to build and maintain a public library in Aquin.
ADF believes that a new public library is not only needed in Aquin but it will also be a catalyst for change. ADF’s initiative to begin the development of a new public library bodes well for the future of Aquin. It will be an indispensable tool to schools, educators, students and professionals in the region. The information and access it will bring will make a great difference in the lives of children, young women and men as well as professionals.
A major component of the library’s program will be internet connectivity to other libraries and learning centers making this new library a center of information and research.
This proposal is bold and unique. It reverses the status quo. No such institution yet exists in Aquin and the surrounding areas. This project will require financial support, detailed planning and implementation.
The start of this development is possible due the important donation of a property located next to the Church, the former court house building, by Mrs. Corine Piverger and Mrs. Yanick Charlier.
On behalf of those yet to benefit from the library, ADF wishes to thank the donors for their generous gift.
Currently, ADF is in the preliminary planning phase.
We will keep you updated.
